How does an extendable ceramic table work?
The principle is simple: you add one or two extensions at the end of the table, and the table gains length without losing any visual coherence.
At COLOMBUS, the extensions are made in the same ceramic as the top: no break in material, no difference in shade. The extensions are stored separately, away from the table.
End extensions: entertaining without giving up design
Our end-extension system is designed to preserve the look of the base. The extension mechanism does not interfere with the structure of the leg: the table keeps its silhouette, closed or opened to its maximum. Once the extensions are removed, you would never guess it is an extendable table: our system is invisible.
How many guests do you need to seat? From 6 to 12 people and more
Our extendable tables cover a wide range of configurations. As a guide:
- 6 people closed, 8 open: one extension, standard format
- 8 people closed, 10 to 12 open: two extensions, large format
- More than 12 people: fully bespoke, we size the table to your needs
Tell us your everyday use and your maximum number of guests: we size the table accordingly.
Extendable shapes: rectangular, rectangular with rounded corners, square
The extension system is compatible with three shapes:
- Rectangular: the most common shape and the most efficient in seating.
- Rectangular with rounded corners: it keeps the generosity of the rectangle while softening the corners, for a more elegant and more comfortable result.
- Square: suited to square spaces.
Please note: oval, oblong, barrel and round shapes are not available in an extendable version. The constraint is technical: the extension mechanism requires straight edges to guarantee a perfectly continuous top.

Why ceramic is ideal for an extendable table
The weight of a ceramic top is under control: lighter than natural marble, sturdier than glass. Opening the table is smooth, without excessive effort. Ceramic does not warp over time: the extensions always fit perfectly, even after years of use.
